***Illegal Fishing***
PCs 3930 and 3437 of the Wakefield City Centre Team have recently dealt with four males who were seen fishing in the waters of the river Calder near Navigation Walk.
When these males were spoken to, it was found that they did not have the correct rod licences required to allow them to fish in the area.
The males were also found with a bucket containing fish that had been caught by the males, thankfully the bucket had water in it so the officers were able to return the fish to the water.
The males have been reported to the Environmental agency, who will be looking to take action against them for fishing without a rod licence.
If you see anyone fishing in an area where you think they shouldn't be, or suspect anyone of fishing without a licence please report it.
The environmental agency can be contacted on 0800 80 70 60 and the police can be called via 101 or 999 in an emergency.
The guide below shows who should be called depending on the offence taking place, however if you are unsure what offence is taking place please contact the police.
